“No Atheists In Foxholes”

0000

While attending Bible Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida, I couldn’t tell you how many times I heard Dr. Peter S. Ruckman say that phrase. Sitting here at my computer today, enjoying the freedom that our country still offers, I started thinking about that phrase. I sure hope there weren’t any atheists on that beach so long ago. Furthermore, I hope each and every one of those that fought and died there, fighting for our freedom and the freedom of other countries, knew my Lord Jesus Christ personally, because if they did, they are with Him in Glory today.

Someday, I’ll be in Heaven myself. Not because I’m a good person, but because I know a perfect Savior. In Romans 3:12, the Scripture says, “…there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” It also says in Romans 3:10 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” In John 3:3 Jesus Himself tells us, “…Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Yes, I hope every one of them was saved.

When I reach those heavenly shores, after seeing my dear Savior first of all, I want to shake the hand of every last one of these brave soldiers. Every Last One of Them. They are my heroes, just as much as those who fight for our freedoms today.

Remember people, freedom is not free. It comes with great cost. We today are part of the Land of the Free, Because of the Brave. Take time to honor a fallen hero on this Memorial Day.
